Still selling boot socks and mermaids too!
And in the middle of all the tulle cutting, I've shopped on line, and in the store at The Container Store! Yes! Finally I have a new design for my sewing room, and I've started the work I can do myself this evening. It's going to take awhile, and I still need to schedule the worker men who will install the system we designed. When it's finished, I'll post some pictures for you. That store is really easy to work with, very polite and great listening skills = and that means great customer service!
Also, I linked through Ebates using this link, and anything I ordered through the link gave me another 4% off! Plus they even emailed me another 10% off for the bins and all the other stuff I need. Here's the Ebate info for you
If you link your online purchases through Ebates at http://www.ebates.com/rf.do?referrerid=7bcUv38Esk8%3D
you can get lots of free shipping and cash back. It's well worth looking into!
You can save some money, get some free shipping sometimes, and also they send you a check every now and then.
OH! We're celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary this week! Going to the beach (of course), but I will be answering any emails (or the contact me) if you want to chat or place an order. Have a great week!

Selling those boot sox! Only two pair left today for the girls, and 10 pairs of adults (brown Mongolian fur, shiny black bear, and grey mixed with black long shaggy fur, and leopard print). Will be sewing more this weekend.
December 11, 2011 Finally ready to post my boot sox for girls, and am having trouble with my photo loader! There are two of them pictured here, but I still need some work on the pictures and for sale buttons to PayPal. Contact me if you can't wait for my slow computer work.

I just downloaded Catholic singer/songwriter Donna Cori Gibson's latest single FREE! She's giving away the first song from her new album \"The Way of the Cross - a song for each station\" for free, but only for a limited time so download it while it's still available. It's worth a listen. Download it here: http://donnacorigibson.com/FreeDownload1.html
These songs are not only beautiful, but incredible teaching tools.

I've been so lax lately! First I really want to remodel my sewing room, and that thought of reorganizing made me look at all the collections I have since I started sewing years ago! It's time to start letting go of some things.
So today I finally launched my first vintage hat page with a Sue Lee by Irving red beaded pillbox hat. It's perfect for the holidays!
And that's all the time I have tonight. I've taken hundreds of photos to load of other hats.

Just in time for my trip, (that means I can't sew for a week!) are some pictures of Little Red Riding Hood. You can link to theme here on my website. http://moonsboutique.com/HalloweenSeasonal.aspx
Perhaps I will be able to check my email on the trip, so if you need me, use the contact me form. I hope to get back to you right away, but please be patient while I travel.

Ready for Halloween? Tonight I've completed a Little Red Riding Hood costume with cape and pantaloons in size 4. As soon as I take pictures, I'll post it for you to see. This time I used a pattern and copied the picture on the front. The cape and pantaloons could also be used with a Christmas dress. Yes, it's for sale.
I've also listed some Halloween things on Facebook! My page there is called "Moons Boutique". There's a shopping cart, and you can use PayPal. I hope that you will look at it, and 'like' it so that your friends can see. You'll be able to post a picture of your little model wearing my creations if you want.
Another way to look for it is to use TabJuice.com
Last week I made pj bottoms for a pajama party for a group of girls and one mom. They picked cupcake print fabric. SO CUTE! I'm waiting on pictures.

During the drought, the fires came to Texas and lots of people lost everything. So sad.
Then the rains came, and still hover around us. Thank you, God! So refreshing.
I've recently been sewing not only mermaids, but lambs too! Long sleeves and long legs for boys and girls both, that can be used for Halloween and Christmas pageants. They are so cute!
Hope all is well with all of you.
September 5, 2011 This is a prayer for rain in those dry areas of America
......join in!!!
Large Prayer Circle
As evidenced by people living in Oklahoma, West Texas and South Texas, and New Mexico ever-increasing areas in other parts of the country, the drought condition is reaching critical status; cattle are being auctioned off; crops have burned up; and drinking water is becoming a concern. Please join us in this prayer circle.
Lets make this one of the largest prayer circles ever. It will be as though everyone is holding hands around the world
Dear Heavenly Father,
You said whatsoever any two or more come together and agree and ask in Your Son's name, it shall be given. We come to you, humbly, and ask that you bring down the rain to our parched lands. Our farmers and ranchers need it desperately, as well as our firefighters. We ask this all in Jesus' name.
Amen.
You may adopt this prayer and evidence your participation in this gathering by simply passing this prayer request on to your circle of friends!
PLEASE forward this if you believe in the power of
prayer - I copied all of the above. Thanks to whoever sent it to us.

School has started for most of us, and so many are waiting the latest hurricane. Stay safe.
Mermaids are being delivered this week for the early Halloween orders. Have you thought of what your children will wear yet?

Going on a trip next week. I'll be back in a week.

I think my husband is turning into a farmer in his retirement. Now he has a small cucumber garden that is producing lots of delicious cukes. Plenty to share with our neighbors just from a small packet of seeds!

Almost Father's Day, are you ready?

Evening Prayer
Someone has said that if Christians really understood the full extent of the power we have available through prayer, we might be speechless.
Did you know that during WWII there was an advisor to Churchill who organized a group of people who dropped what they were doing every day at a prescribed hour for one minute to collectively pray for the safety of England , its people and peace?
There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in America . If you would like to participate: Every evening at 9:00PM Eastern Time (8:00PM Central) (7:00PM Mountain) (6:00PM Pacific), stop whatever you are doing and spend one minute praying for the safety of the United States, our troops, our citizens, and for a return to a Godly nation. If you know anyone else who would like to participate, please pass this along. Our prayers are the most powerful asset we have. Please forward this to your praying friends.

Our grandsons have been with us all this week, and for some fun they decided to sew what they call "Moon Dolls". This one turned out to look like a donut. These are easy, simple projects to teach children how to thread the sewing machine, look at the stitches they can make, and develop a little logic. They also practice tracing, cutting and pinning their patterns, designed by them, choose appropriate fabric from a fabric scrap bin, match thread colors and more.
It's a great way to get their brains working!

I am so happy! My husband helped me set up a tiny little photo studio for pictures that I will be adding to MoonsBoutique.com website! I've tested it and find that this SHOULD be so simple - doesn't mean it will be, but I am hpoing that I can handle it!

In our recent visit to Georgia, we went to the Coca Cola Museum and saw the most impressive store.
Besides the metal signs, awesome clocks, clothing on sale, and so much more,
I learned about the beginning of their company and how well planned it is.
They've implemented this in advertising all over the world. No wonder it's so good. Kudos to Coca Cola!
This is part of my family! See our three grandsons? That's the Coca Cola Polar Bear.
Our three granddaughters are modeling throughout this website.
MOTHER'S DAY!!! Are you ready?

Yes, I am here. Reflecting on my next project.
APRIL 22, 2011 Good Friday
A very blessed day for all of us. Have a wonderful family time.
April 21, 2011
What a wonderful few weeks it's been! I've visited Georgia and our family there, and even the Coca Cola Museum in Atlanta.
Very interesting!
I finished the cutest Minnie corset top in 2T to 3T, (see fabric swatch below) and paired it with a red pettiskirt. I really like it.
Can't decide if I should sell it as a set (which would run about $80), or make a tutu skirt of tulle and sell the corset set for $45.
What would work better?
And I'm almost finished with a size 4 to 6X corset made of the pink princess fabric below.
The tulle skirt and the ruffle trim on the corset is very attention getting!
Fun, vibrant colors! If I have time this weekend, I'll take pictures and post them.
Oh, the fabric is calling me! Must go see about it!
April 11th
Happy birthday, baby Susie, if you are reading this!
April 9th! Ah, what a wonderful day I've had! Thanks be to God!
April 8th - fabric shopping finds!
April 7th By now most of you know that my 'other' name is Babe. It's the name I'm most comfortable with,
all my relatives use it, and even my grandchildren. So I just decided to change this to Babe's Blog.
That being said, here is a "how to".
How to...how to make a looped or tied on tutu. It's very simple. I machine sew my tutus,
but I can understand how you might enjoy playing with tulle to get just the look you want.
It is fun. If you have an evening to spend and buy at least 4 rolls (that would be 100 yards, so buy more if you want it fuller)
of precut 6 inch wide, nylon tulle in the colors you want.
Then simply cut them in strips two times (plus one inch for the tying,
example: 21 inches for a 10 inch length finished tutu) the length of the tutu you will be creating.
Waist band: Using a 1 inch non roll elastic measuring just an inch or two smaller than your child's waist,
hand or machince sew into a circle.
This will stretch much larger as you add the tulle strips, so maybe you should adjust it a little smaller than you originally thought.
To get started: fold one long cut tulle strip around the elastic circle and loop it through the folded part and pull securely,
or you can actually tie it on around the elastic.
Try each way and then another and see which way you like it the best. It is really simple to do, time consuming, but easy.
When you've decided which way you like the best, just sit down in front of the tv,
slip the elastic band either around your own legs (now you will be seated for awhile!),
or stretched around the back of a chair that is placed in front of you.
Then just looooooop or tieeeeee until you have all of the cut tulle strips attached.
By the way, the best cutting of tulle, the cleanest cut - is with a rotary cutter and a self healing mat. I can't live without mine!
April 5th
Life is good! Sping has arrived, at least in Texas! Did you see my latest project?
It's a lined reversible corset and reversible tutu set, and a headband. I think it's really precious!
I made the straps using bias cut fabric, and a very full tutu, almost looks like a cupcake! Just flip it over to change the colors.
"Cling to wisdom - she will protect you. Love her - she will guard you. Getting wisdom is the most important thing you can do!
And with your wisdom, develop common sense and good judgment." - Proverbs 4:6-7 TLB
Did you finish your income tax? Isn't it frustrating? Necessary, but frustrating. I so wish it were easier.
I've been practicing making fabric flowers and have figured out a new way (at least for me) to make a little invisible track
for shoulder straps to feed through the layers of the child's corset. It keeps the shoulder straps in place
(the straps can still be taken out), but it stabilizes the bodice while you are lacing it up the back for your little girl.
So much easier to dress her!
We are getting ready for another trip. This time we go to Georgia to see our grandsons
(of course! We will see our son and daughter-n-law too!!)
March 24, 2100 - why do I keep writing the year - you know it!
"To be successful, the first thing to do is fall in love with your work." - Sister Mary Lauretta
Yes, I do that. Maybe that's why I don't have pictures taken of so many of them.
By myself, or with a customer, a design emerges...then voila! it is a work of love for a special little child.
I want to hurry and mail it to them! And then I wait for the next thought. Truly one of a kind.

"What constitutes success? She has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much: who has
gained the respect of intelligent people and the love of little children: who has filled her niche and accomplished her task:
who has left the world better than she found it; who has always looked for the best in others and given the best she had."
- Bessie Anderson Stanley
Oh, how I wish someone could say that about me. Well, maybe not yet. I'm still trying though. Never, ever give up!
March 14, 2011 Almost half over already, this month of March! I'm excited to welcome my daughter and her family home for spring break this week!
Can't wait to see them all!
So I just had to go fabric shopping today, and found some really nice, soft Moda fabric and it's in the washing machine right now!
My scissors are anxious to see what it will look like all together...thinking of skirts with ruffles,
thinking of two layered sundresses, thinking and dreaming.
I'll post pictures soon.
Which brings me to choices:
"Choices can change our lives profoundly. The choice to mend a broken relationship, to say "yes" to a difficult assignment,
to lay aside some important work, to play with a child, to visit some forgotten person-these small choices
may affect our lives eternally." - Gloria Gaither
Sounds like my work this week might have some wonderful choices!

February 22, 2011 I am really serious about this! Almost everyday I read in the paper or hear from friends or coworkers about things
going on in their children's lives that are just not emotionally healthy. Please pay attention to your children.
You are their advocates. They are a gift from God to you, and you must protect them.

"This is my prayer: that your love will flourish and that you will not only love much but well. Learn to love appropriately.

It is cold in Texas today, as it is in a lot of places in winter!
January 30, 2011 I can't believe that January will be over tomorrow!
I've had another birthday, sewed many items this month (sorry I didn't take pictures of these special orders),
and continue to work in pastoral care in the daytime.
And I'm looking forward to the beach again in a few weeks.

"Knowing what is right is like deep water in the heart; a wise person draws from the well within." The Message
mmm, do I really agree with this translation? Let me see what another one says...
"The purposes in the human mind are like deep water, but the intelligent will draw them out." NRSV
"The intention in the human heart is like water far below the surface, but the man of intelligence draws it forth." NAB
Proverbs 20:5 The first passage is translated in the Message, the second from the New Revised Standard Version,
the third from the New American Bible.
These could be very misleading if any of the words were taken out of context.
I think it means that we have a heart and a conscience that we need to use wisely, when we are pondering what is right and good,
or trying to make decisions about anything.
